Dramatize Theatre Company

Who they are…

Dramatize, based in the Riverside Arts Centre in Sunbury on Thames, is a professionally run, fun and friendly community interest company that was formed in 2011. Dramatize works with kids and adults – with and without disabilities – to nurture talent and develop core skills through structured activities in a fun learning environment using the excitement of theatre. Dramatize strongly believes that theatre should be accessible to all and aims to break down any barriers that exist within mainstream theatre. Our schemes aim to give a form of respite to parents/carers along with teaching new skills within the art of theatre.

What they do…

Dramatize provides theatrical holiday schemes for individuals with learning disabilities of all ages using theatre and movement workshops. Our carefully selected and specially trained team offer a supportive and vibrant environment as a building block for personal development and exploring new skills. Catering for individuals of all abilities from 16 -40, their theatrical workshops range from musical theatre, creative movement, singing, costume design, make up and much more.

How donations are going to be used…

All future donations, including those from Re-ward Club members, will help enable Dramatize to open up a new branch within the borough of Richmond, providing a platform for stars to shine. It will provide the local community with additional services for individuals with learning disabilities, to help progress and build confidence. This new branch will also help members of the participants’ families who can explore other activities whilst the workshops are taking place.

How to get involved…

As well as donating your Re-ward Club vouchers you can also give money directly to Dramatize to support their work when you have no vouchers to spare! You can also give something more valuable – your time. Dramatize are always looking for new volunteers to help run the workshops as they really need people who have an interest in theatre and working with the disabled. It’s great for them to have more dance teachers, musicians and anyone looking for an energetic experience who are willing to give a little bit of their free time to work with these individuals. If you are interested in volunteering with this fantastic charity, then get in touch via their website or email or alternatively, call 07912 183085.
