PHSSPetersham & Ham Sea Scouts

Who they are…

Petersham & Ham Sea Scout Group has been active for over 100 years and is one of the oldest Sea Scout Groups still in existence. They run programs for children from 6 (Beavers) to 18(Explorers) years and have a rich history with roots tracing back to 1908! Petersham and Ham Sea Scout Group is also one of the 101 Sea Scout groups to hold official Royal Navy recognition – RN56!

What they do…

Petersham and Ham Sea Scout Group provides a range of activities for young people and is divided into sections depending on age – Beavers 6-8 yrs, Cubs 8-10.5 yrs, Scouts 10.5-14 yrs and Explorers 14-18 yrs. Although most scout groups have the opportunity for boating activities, such as sailing and canoeing, the Sea Scout programme also incorporates many aspects of naval and nautical traditions.

Sea Scout training is aimed at providing young people with the necessary training to confidently manage on the water as well as on land by teaching nautical skills and seamanship in a range of craft alongside traditional programs such as camping and other outdoor activities.

How donations are going to be used…

All donations received from Re-ward Club members will be invested in the purchase of fruit trees to be planted around the fields of the grounds. It is hoped there will also be enough funding to purchase woodland, hedging plants and herbs for the garden tubs. Access to these plants will help give the Sea Scouts more land-based skills and greater awareness of the local natural environment and wildlife.
